I got these despite all the negative reviews. I should have trusted my gut feeling. I should have known that these things would be terrible because they are so small and have very low surface area for adhesive.
On top of that, I doubt these things would work on a perfectly smooth indoor surface like drywall, let alone something outdoor.
Just to be clear, I did attach them to relatively smooth surface (painted stucco but smooth areas), I used 2, sometimes 3 for every attachment point to help distribute the very little weight (these are string Christmas lights after all, with not too much tension.)
Every single one failed after less than 3 days.
Save yourself time and effort, not to mention money, and just buy the Outdoor Command Strips instead. Much bigger surface area, easier to use, and will last much better.
Honestly if I could give these 0 stars, I would.

I hung two sets of heavy outdoor lights and these did a great job, exactly what I was looking for, clear and can handle a heavier wire. They have held up both in summer highs and fall lows. I’m excited to see how the handle snowy weather.

These clips are mighty strong, stayed fast during storm Bert, snow, high winds and torrential rain and the heavy duty Christmas icicle lights are still up, amazing. We expected to find them all on the floor…nope still in place. They don’t look that robust but they really are. Our metal gazebo was flipped completely over during the high winds, so it goes to show how good these clips really are. I highly recommend these clips. We are very pleased they did what they were supposed to do…maybe we should have secured our gazebo with them 🤣

These hooks don’t stick for five minutes…they are most likely not an actual 3M product.

Last Christmas I had to use strong tape to secure a string of lights around the inside of my front window and wanted a more elegant solution this year. Spotted these by chance and decided to try them given the low cost.
Excellent.
Just the right stickyness but easy to remove (sacrificed one hook testing it) and holds string light just fine. Even stuck well to a curved frame. Might try re-using the hooks with some double sided tape for next time but given the price I will probably just buy another set.

As usual, nothing is perfect so one very minor niggle. Once the wire is in the hook it quite tricky to get the wire out again. Might need to take the string down then remove the hooks rather than trying to remove the wire in situe.
Overall, very happy with these and would certainly recommend over sticky tape any time!

Clip is good and strong and perfectly meets requirement but Adhesive is so bad that doesnt stick any where. neither wall nor wood. It doesnt even stick well to other adhesive. I tried to attach to other adhesive which stick on to the surface. But this keeps coming out and my string lights keep dropping. which makes the clips useless. had to go up and down so many times in fixing the hooks and hanging lights, got tired.

These things GRIP. Especially on painted window sills where I wanted to hang lights. Worked out great and easy to peel the backs off if you have nails. I don’t expect I’ll be able to peel these off easily, they seriously stick to the wall, so be sure before you put them on anywhere.

I used these to pin up halloween lights. Within 5 minutes they began to fall, so I had to add more to support the top strand at my door. At the top I had to basically put a sticky every 3 inches across the top in order for it to hold the lights. So far so good, but these are kinda small, but they are very sticky and I did have three strands of lights going through them. I have the small fairly LED lights that are battery operated so they are not large strands. By adding additional support it worked. The package came with alot so I had plenty to spare. Unsure how they will do in weather though – will soon find out 🙂

Easy to put up and remove. They have fallen off a few times outside but I think it’s because of the temperature changes. They keep the lights in place for the most part and you get a lot of value for the price.
