I like my room to be vampire dark when sleeping, otherwise I can not sleep even with a sleep mask on. I have tried tones of black out curtains from the cheaper end to more expensive and have always been let down. After doubling recently purchased “black out curtains” that still somehow showed light through (there’s a street light near the window that’s particularly bright at night) I started my search again. I found these and figured why not try? I did not want to spend to much as this is my 3rd layer of curtains…anyhow….they arrived quickly and are easy to install. I have no trouble with the adhesive but key is you have to wipe the wall down with water before sticking it and also an alcohol wipe let that dry…then stick. The result was utter pitch black darkness, cave dark. Key is to buy a size slightly wider then what you need so the curtain ends over the wall not in the window if that makes sense. I couldn’t be happier, with I stared with these before wasting money trying others.

We are using this for the glass door that goes to the garage in our toy hauler trailer. The size is perfect. It is lightweight and easy to install. The adhesive strips could be a bit stronger but that can be easily replaced if necessary. The only thing I didn’t care for is the plastic clip that you use to roll up the shade. It isn’t great and looks like a clear clip that you put in your hair. I would also liked to have had a small rod in the bottom to help roll up the shade tighter. Overall, I would buy this product again as it was a great price and wasn’t a hassle to install.

—— why i was looking for this product—–
I live on campus in an apartment right by some frat and sorority houses. I underestimated how loud they would get on the weekends and even the middle of the week. I thought I’d get a head start before they all come back from winter break to make some changes to avoid some of their nuisances; one of these being the lights. The street lights are on anyway, but when they party the lights from their buildings and leds shine into my window. I live in the basement part of my complex so my window is high up and there’s really no way to completey block the light.

The cops also come very often because of underage drinking, noise, or just general problems that go on during their parties. So I also have to deal with the bright cop lights .

    —- why this?—–
I saw this product during my search for a curtain. Im not allowed to drill holes or even use adhesive or tape here, but we use command strips anyway. I was going to get adhesive curtain rod holders, a curtain, and a rod, but there’s not much space or flat area to place it on my windows. It’s also above my bed and I didn’t want to get wacked in the head if it happened to fall.

This product looked easy to place, was affordable, and looked like an actual black out curtain.

    —- application—-
It was super easy to install. I didn’t have fabric scissors but my regular cheap scissors worked fine to cut this. My scissors glided smoothly during the cuts.

I will note that I didn’t notice one of the rods was bigger than the others, so I taped two together. I was about to tape the 3rd when i realized it just slides in. So i took the tape off and just slid the two smaller ones into the bigger one.

The velcro was very easy to install and sticks great! I was worried it wouldnt stick well on my window because 1) the wall is cold from the snow, and 2) there’s no flat space. It wasn’t a problem and the curtain adhered just fine.

    —– use —–
The clips work perfectly for holding the curtain when you roll it up.

The light is completely blacked out. I included a video to compare my two windows.

I only bought 1 to test it but now that I know what a great product it is, I’ll be ordering a 2nd one for my other window. I got this one on sale for $13 but it was originally $19. Either way, the value matches the price, and its a great solution for anyone looking for a cheap but quality fix to light blockage.

It does what it says, but way over priced for what you get. Super cheap low quality material.
Someone built this out of spare parts in a garage.

Cubre completamente las áreas a tapar, fácil de instalar

  7. AL

The item is short and very expensive for what you receive

  8. NYC10

The door curtain was very easy to install and provides complete privacy. The material is thin, but its appearance is satisfactory. I wanted a temporary blackout curtain until I get a new door. It is perfect for that purpose or might be acceptable for longer term use unless the buyer wants something more fashionable.

100% blackout light blocking, fit my window perfectly, though I trimmed the length and it was easy to cut with my sewing scissors. Off-white/eggshell color blended nicely with the wall and the shades I have in front of it (though I don’t need the shades in front, it’s just a style choice to match the other windows that I keep open to light during day).
They are a hand roll, so it’s a bit of a pain to roll up and down every day, but for the bedroom window I like to keep closed it works perfect! And the other windows I usually keep rolled up, but are easily let down.
Durable, and fits nicely inside the window box so it isn’t bulky or visible. I would buy again if I need more in the future. Good value for price.

  10. D Dakota

I bought these to put over my blinds, because the sun beats down directly on the windows. The fabric is so thin and does not seem to block the sun’s heat at all, even with a thick curtain over these black “shades” (they are really just a piece of thin fabric). Waste of time and money.

The blind is a unique mix of paper and fabric with a metallic backing that can only be inspired from an emergency rescue blanket

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and effectiveness of this product. I have three large bedroom windows that previously required a very long and heavy blackout curtains that were never flush against them and light often came in from above the window and between the panels. I was ready to give in for expensive window treatments with a better fit. Sure, these are cheap and you have to roll them on your own. I had low expectations but these are so much better than the paper products and also absorb heat as my room is east facing and stays cool. My sleep quality has improved especially with the sun rising earlier. I think they look better and more sleep than traditional brackets or rods. The adhesive is easily replaced as it can start to slip in the warmer weather.
