    It is actually metal which is nice. You can either can by the metal hook on it or by screwing it in with the 2 precut holes. The paint technique makes it looks rustic without being rusty. Other reviews said the paint looks bad but I think it looks really good. We have a farmhouse and used it on the bathroom door to let people know where it is.
